Lean Management Journal
The Lean Management Journal
LERC is pleased to announce the launch the Lean Management Journal, which it has co-founded with SayOne Media.
The Context
Although the term ‘lean’ has become synonymous with the techniques employed by Toyota since the Second World War, there are many viewpoints about what lean ‘is’ and which concepts and techniques are most suited to specific environments. The Lean Management Journal (LMJ) aims to bring to the forefront the diversity of thinking around lean concepts and to showcase lean excellence from around the globe. It also aims to provide a platform for lean debate and continuous improvement through shared experience, interviews and case studies.
With editorial assistance from LERC and others the LMJ aims to pinpoint challenges around lean, purpose, processes and people and to question established or outmoded beliefs about lean. In keeping with LERC’s viewpoint of diversity of thinking and dissemination of knowledge, the LMJ aims to expand the breadth of lean understanding globally and to question and substantiate existing thinking with real world ‘coalface’ experiences.
Aims
Ultimately the LMJ aims to enable lean change agents to improve their individual and organisational performance and it is anticipated that the journal will become an interface between lean thinkers and practitioners in a supported, multi-sector community. The timing for it could not be more relevant, given that few organisations and businesses are immune to the current economic climate, with managers under increasing pressure to enhance their value creating capability, improve effectiveness and reduce waste.
